How can children not only understand the energy transition, but experience it themselves? With curiosity, a spirit of experimentation – and the right materials.

Thanks to a new funding round from the Microsoft Community Fund, managed by the non-profit organization ChangeX, schools now have another opportunity to use solar education teaching materials free of charge and to integrate sustainability into their lessons in a practical way.
Who can apply?
Schools from the following regions can apply:
🇩🇪 Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) – Bergheim, Bedburg und Elsdorf
🇦🇹 Vienna and Lower Austria
🇮🇪 Dublin (South Dublin and Finely counties)
Funding is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
What's included?
With the support of Microsoft, we at Solar Education enable schools to easily get started with the topics of renewable energies, photovoltaics and sustainability – age-appropriate, interactive and with plenty of room for independent discovery.
The free education package includes, among other things:
2 research kits that allow children to experiment on their own
2 electrical cubes for playfully understanding electricity and nergy
Access to all solar education lessons for primary school
Funding of €1,200 for accompanying school or sustainability projects
This allows teachers not only to implement individual lessons, but also to develop entire projects around climate protection and future skills.
Why Solarbildung?
Our goal is to show children from an early age that they can actively shape the future.
Instead of abstract theory, we focus on hands-on learning, positive stories about the energy transition, and materials that spark curiosity. This makes sustainability tangible – and learning fun.
How to apply?
Applications are submitted via the ChangeX platform and are intentionally kept simple. Interested schools select the "Solar Education for Primary Schools" idea and begin the application process.
📅 Deadline to apply is March 2nd.
It's important to be quick. The first applicants will be given preference!
