Our mission.

We show the younger generation ways to shape their own energy future and thus transform their powerlessness into confidence and courage.

Almost half of young people between the ages of 14 and 29 are worried about climate change. A third struggle with a lack of motivation, 17 percent with a feeling of helplessness (trend study " Youth in Germany 2024: Responsibility for the future? Yes, but ").

About Us

We support teachers in giving students a deeper understanding of renewable energies at an early stage. Our 20-strong team is headquartered in the heart of Munich and has been working successfully with numerous schools and a wide range of sponsors to raise awareness of renewable energies since it was founded in 2021. For example, we found a valuable partner in the Caritas Brucker workshop for people with disabilities, with whom we still produce teaching materials in partnership today. Our team of working students and volunteers comes from various disciplines such as physics, education and politics. We also receive active support from our advisory board .

The corporate purpose of the independent and non-profit Solar for Schools Bildung gGmbH is to promote education and general and vocational training, to promote environmental protection including climate protection and to promote development cooperation (according to Section 52 Paragraph 2 Sentence 1 Numbers 7, 8 and 15).

What we do.

We develop intuitively understandable teaching and learning materials for every type of school, every subject and every grade from preschool onwards. The focus here is on the topic of photovoltaics - as a type of CO2-free energy generation. Our lessons are not only suitable for teaching STEM subjects, but also for other subjects such as economics or ethics. This way, the younger generation understands the topic of solar energy in all its complexity and from a variety of perspectives. In addition, we have developed teaching materials such as a solar explorer kit , a solar science kit and a solar kit with which students can experiment and learn.

Our products.

Lessons

We offer teaching units for all age groups and subjects. With these, we want to provide teachers with materials to integrate the topic of solar energy into their subject areas and to teach it in an understandable and practical way. Our lessons come as a complete package and include all the necessary materials - that is, a teacher's script, a presentation for the lesson and worksheets including solutions that are needed for the lesson(s). These lessons are currently free to purchase. In order to continue to develop new lessons and improve existing ones, every donation is a great help to us.

We have developed units for primary schools and the first years of secondary schools that are intended to explain to young children where our energy comes from and what significance it has in our society.

In our lessons for grades 7-9, students explore the topic of solar energy in more depth and learn more about background information such as how it works, solar systems, and topics such as solar hydrogen.

Our lessons for young people aged 16 and over build on the basics learned and combine topics from various subjects with practical examples from solar energy.

Hardware/Solar kits

The Solar Explorer Kit was designed for kindergarten and primary school age children, with which children can explore the functionality of PV systems in a playful way.

With the Solar Science Kit, secondary school students can transform their classroom into a physics laboratory.

We have also developed a special Solar Kit that students can set up and operate independently, gaining valuable, real-life practical experience

What makes our products unique?

With solar education, we not only encourage people, but also save CO2. With our teaching materials, we create equal access to the topic of sustainability. We bring renewable energies closer to children and young people of all ages and all areas, because with our sustainable products they can research and experience solar energy for themselves. With a global teaching approach, we ensure that we not only take along children who are enthusiastic about STEM subjects, but that all students enjoy the lessons.

Our products are easy to understand and suitable for larger groups of students, so that they can experience and learn the topic together. This means that our teaching materials can not only be integrated into lessons, but also included in theme weeks. It is important to us to teach the topic of solar energy not only theoretically, but also practically, so that the children can learn new things in groups and while having fun.

We guarantee the durability and reusability of our products in the spirit of sustainability, so that students can try things out without any fear of contact.

Our impact.

With our materials, around 200 students per school experience first-hand how important solar energy is and how much they can contribute to the energy transition. Not only do they learn how to use energy and resources consciously, they also become active ambassadors for sustainable change. Each of these students takes what they have learned into their personal environment and inspires their families.

In Germany, every change in behavior among students influences an average of 3.52 people in their household. With 200 young people (per school), this corresponds to a potential sphere of influence of over 700 people! We not only promote knowledge, but also strengthen the self-efficacy of children: They learn to recognize the challenges of our time and solve them creatively - at a local and global level. By increasing education for sustainable development, we also promote civil society engagement and inspire community initiatives that actively shape the future.
