Our mission.

Every day we hear about crises, disasters, and an uncertain future. It's no wonder that almost half of young people are worried about climate change and the future. Many feel unmotivated, some even helpless.

But this is exactly where we come in.

Solar Education aims to show students that you can take your energy future into your own hands. You are not powerless. Quite the opposite. Together, we transform worry into confidence, doubt into energy, and helplessness into courage.

Because the future belongs to you. And you have everything you need to shape it.

Non-profit and strong

Since 2021, we are committed to bring education about sustainable development into schools. With a team of 30 students, numerous volunteers, and an academic advisory board including prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. Harald Lesch, we have created effective teaching programs:

  • 7 high-quality teaching tools

  • over 100 school lessons hours

  • in 3 languages

Thanks to our supporters we were able to make these successes possible:

and received the National Award for Education for Sustainable Development from the German UNESCO Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education.

Who are we

Solar Education is a non-profit, independent organization funded by donations and the proceeds of learning materials. These are produced with our partner, the Caritas Brucker Workshop for People with Disabilities in Fürstenfeldbruck.

The corporate purpose of Solar for Schools Bildung gGmbH is to promote education, general and vocational training, environmental protection, including climate protection, and development cooperation (according to Section 52, Paragraph 2, Sentence 1, Nos. 7, 8, and 15). Solar education is certified as a public good.

What we do.

We develop intuitively understandable teaching and learning materials for every type of school, every subject and every grade from preschool onwards. The focus here is on the topic of photovoltaics - as a type of CO2-free energy generation. Our lessons are not only suitable for teaching STEM subjects, but also for other subjects such as economics or ethics. This way, the younger generation understands the topic of solar energy in all its complexity and from a variety of perspectives. In addition, we have developed teaching materials such as a solar explorer kit , a solar science kit and a solar kit with which students can experiment and learn.

What do we offer

The Solar Research Set and the Electrical Cube were designed for kindergarten and primary school children, allowing children to playfully explore how PV systems and electricity work.

With the Solar Experiment Kit, high school students can transform their classrooms into physics labs. We've also developed a full-scale educational PV system that students can assemble and operate independently, gaining valuable, real-life practical experience.

We offer teaching units for all age groups and subjects. We aim to provide teachers with materials to integrate solar energy into their subject areas and teach it in a comprehensible and practical way. Our lessons come as a complete package and include all the necessary materials—a teacher's script, a classroom presentation, and worksheets with solutions needed for the lesson(s). Every donation is a great help to us as we continue to develop new lessons and improve existing ones.

What makes us unique?

With solar education, we not only encourage people, but also save CO2. With our teaching materials, we create equal access to the topic of sustainability. We bring renewable energies closer to children and young people of all ages and all areas because, with our sustainable products, they can research and experience solar energy for themselves. With a global teaching approach, we ensure that we not only take along children who are enthusiastic about STEM subjects, but that all students enjoy the lessons.

Our products are easy to understand and suitable for larger groups of students, so that they can experience and learn the topic together. This means that our teaching materials can not only be integrated into lessons, but also included in theme weeks. It is important to us to teach the topic of solar energy not only theoretically, but also practically, so that the children can learn new things in groups and while having fun.

We guarantee the durability and reusability of our products in the spirit of sustainability, so that students can try things out without any fear of contact.

Our impact.

With our materials, around 200 students per school experience first-hand how important solar energy is and how much they can contribute to the energy transition. Not only do they learn how to use energy and resources consciously, they also become active ambassadors for sustainable change. Each of these students takes what they have learned into their personal environment and inspires their families.

In Germany, every change in behavior among students influences an average of 3.52 people in their household. With 200 young people (per school), this corresponds to a potential sphere of influence of over 700 people! We not only promote knowledge, but also strengthen the self-efficacy of children: They learn to recognize the challenges of our time and solve them creatively - at a local and global level. By increasing education for sustainable development, we also promote civil society engagement and inspire community initiatives that actively shape the future.
