4 experiments for all grade levels

Learning goal

Optimum alignment of photovoltaic modules in theory and practice.

Description

In this experiment, two angles 𝑎 and 𝛾 are examined using a movable solar module. The values of 𝑎 and 𝛾 are to be determined under which the module delivers the greatest power.

Experimental setup

  • Base plate with integrated consumers (4 LEDs) and plugs

  • Photovoltaic module (max. 20 VDC) with bracket, movable in 2 axes included

  • cabling

  • angle washer

  • Bulb holder, with spacer line

  • LED bulbs

  • multimeter (1)

  • Cable (2)

Optimal inclination angle between
module and light source

Experiment 1 is basically suitable for all grades and can also be used in subjects such as geography or ethics.

Experiments 2, 3 and 4 are intended for demanding physical experiments in grades 8 to 11.

The extra large photovoltaic modules, the ease of use and the solid construction provide security when experimenting, especially in the lower grades.

The complete set is suitable for 16 students. It consists of 8 experiment stations (2x per experiment) where two students can work at the same time. Each experiment is available twice.

The experimental set is produced by the Bruck workshop for people with disabilities in Fürstenfeldbruck of the Caritas Association of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising eV.

When selecting materials and components, special emphasis was placed on usability as well as recyclability and repairability.
